FLIGHT 2024
ON THE EDGE 2.0, Ovada Gallery, Oxford: An exhibition of work by members of the Royal Society of Sculptors made at a time when the world is on the edge, in climate crisis and there are wars and conflicts erupting around the world. Curated by Tere Chadwick and Denise Bryant.
A flock of 100 bird-like forms hang by their tails from crumpled metal fencing wrapt around the ceiling beams. Whittled sticks form arboreal bony heads. Their bodies are cut and stitched from old bed-linen, weighted and stuffed with salt. The creative process of hand sewing each bird, alludes to repetition, repair and reuse.
Bedlinen, salt, sticks, metal hooks, string, metal fencing.
