NOCTURNE 2024

Curated by Ali Darke and Lito Apostolakou at hARTslane Gallery, with work by Ali Darke, Lito Apostolakou, Lee Maelzer and Richard Sharples. An exhibition of painting, sculpture, drawing and moving image inspired by the elusive shifts of the mind and body through the fall of darkness.

My work continued conversations between the surface and depth, skin and bone, absence and presence, drawing and sculpture, begun in Caylus, a small medieval village, next to the River Bonnet and Cascade Petrifiante. Time in this environment, the water, the rocks, the quiet, the crumbling village and a visit to the local cave, Grotte du Bosc, resonate in ones thoughts, bones and dreams.

‘We are cast upon the shores of our bedlinen from out of the infinite ocean of the night, left like debris as the dream recedes from us’. Peter Schwenger: At the Borders of Sleep.
