BOUND, Stone Space Gallery, 2023
BOUND reflects on the experience of being, having and inhabiting a body. As an archive to our lives, the porous threshold of the skin and psyche meticulously records the alchemical exchange between body, mind and environment. Unruly, and in discord with the self we might wish to escape from the entrapment of the body by flights of fancy and dissociation. Through cutting, stuffing and stitching warn blankets and linen sheets the work evolves into corporeal like forms and fragmented parts, that express these conflicts, hovering between growth and decay, beauty and abjection.
